Decolonising Development Communication

A Rethink of Journalism Studies In Malaysia?

Abstract

This essay brings into focus the question of development communication in the field of communication with special interest in journalism. Decolonisation are attempted works that trying to debunk ideas that has become entrench in Communication, partly as a result of colonialism and continuing Eurocentrism in the field. The focus of this paper is to discuss decolonisation, a practice that is a logical consequence of political and intellectual colonisation or Dr C.K. Raju (2011) called it `Academic Imperialism‘.
